Scratches and dulling can be removed with a liquid auto polish or metal polish.

Yes, this uses a mixed water flow. This also has a scold guard, so make sure it isn't set all the way to cold. grrrr this is a little difficult to explain, Does this have a little red square piece with a screw attached to it just on the inside ot the handle? If so if you turn the screw out this will allow the water to get hotter. Also it might be a good idea to take the mixet off and check to see if anything got stuck in the line, like a piece of solder or a small chunk of wood. I have dealt with this issue quite a bit.
